Quality of Life and Human Rights Policies in the U.S – Kindle Edition

One goal of this book is to educate Americans and others about the meaning of Human Rights as defined by documents of the United Nations and scholars. Lottes examines ten major domestic social problems in the U.S. and describes how these problems could be reduced if policy makers considered the human rights impacts of the policies they propose. She assumes that If human rights-based frameworks guided social policy, fewer violations of these rights would occur. She proposes specific policies consistent with human rights to reduce these ten social problems. In doing so, she provides a blueprint of questions and information to consider before voting in future elections. In addition, she proposes mandatory education in both human rights and empathy for all American citizens from grades K-college. Lottes presents evidence for her views and asks questions important questions about the kind of country we want the U.S. to be.
