Ilsa with Mariela Castro Espin. Mariela is also a human rights advocate in Cuba. She is the daughter of the brother of Fidel Castro who ruled Cuba after Fidel became too ill. Mariela worked especially hard for the human rights of transgender people and tried to break the long tradition in her country that abused gender and sexual minorities.

Ilsa And her co-editor were invited to the Presudents’s palace to present her their book:”New Views of Sexual Health, The Case of Finland” which includes four chapters by Ilsa.
Tarja supported the human rights of minorities and even though she was heterosexual, she was head of Finland’s national LGBTQ organization.
